Trashing the Dress

Trash Sessions are popular with Senior girls- and they are so much fun. A "trash" session is where we literally trash a dress (prom or wedding) in water and/or mud. It sounds awfully silly, but it is so much fun!

What a Spring!

I absolutely cannot believe that is is almost May! This spring has literally flown by. It seems like it was just January and I couldn't wait until the Spring flowers would start blooming. Now, May is upon us, with graduations and summer vacations!

I have been very fortunate to have been extremely busy this year! This is partly why I haven't updated the blog in a while. As I have said before, I am so very thankful for the busy I receive. It is difficult having your own business and the financial stresses that can sometimes accompany it- especially, when we are so unsure of our economy. But, thankfully, my business has not decreased- if anything, it have flourished! I have gained many new clients, as well as worked with those that support my photography several times throughout the year! Thank you in a HUGE way!

I have been in the new location for about a month now- and I love the new building. I have added several new backgrounds and new ideas to my style of photography. I work very hard to make sure my images are unique and most importantly, priceless to my clients. It seems that every photographer finds their niche- and mine is definitely with babies and seniors. I chose not to partake in photographing weddings from the very beginning. And I receive calls for wedding business every week. There is money to be made in the wedding business, but it's just not for me. It's not about how much money I could potentially make shooting weddings. It's about the love of it. And I love those babies! I enjoy my baby and infant sessions so much. I love getting down on their level and seeing what they will do. And working with Seniors, I get to have fun and be creative. It makes me remember how fun it was to be hip and stylish.

All this being said, I find myself at the start of another summer and extremely thankful for the business that I have. This fall, I will mark my 5th year owning A Thousand Words Photography. When I first began, my accountant told me that if I could make it to year 5, I would be doing great. Well, that milestone is right around the corner. And I truly appreciate the people that have helped me get there!
